Samsung + The Met
Branded social content and Illustration
Samsung struck a deal with New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art; owners of a Samsung Frame TV could display masterpieces from the Met in their own home. The team designer made the rough boards, I constructed and drew the illustrations and our motion team took it from there. Our work went to the usual places: facebook, instagram…but it was also displayed in Time Square! It still throws me for a loop when I see my illustrations in peoples vacation photos. It was a big undertaking, but I grew more confident in my illustration abilities and I feel really grateful to have had this opportunity.

The Process
The Process
Things started with rough sketches in a story board; I was called in to design and illustrate the final piece.
To make sure I could deliver what my designer had in mind, I made a few mood boards to help define the desired line-art style. What is outlined in blue is what was chosen.
From there I went on to make the illustrations, keeping in mind that my work would have to translate to 9x16, 16x9, 4x5 and 1x1; that’s a ton of animation work. Using colored guides, I designed a contained stage where the majority of the animation would take place, in the hopes of making the animation work as efficient as possible. Because the chosen art style was continuous line-art, I also had to choreograph the line movement and the transitions from frame to frame. Some scenes were drawn to have a parallax effect.
Some liberties were taken in portraying The Met, but I worked to keep the artwork as identifiable as possible.
